Bye, Bye Blogger . . .

After two years of having a separate blog for my church planting stuff, another blog for my speaking ministry, a website for my speaking ministry, a church website and still another blog for the church (not to mention a page on several speaker bureau's websites) . . . I felt it was time to combine them all together. In order to better accomodate all of this, I'm making the jump to Typepad. You can view the new site by clicking here. Also, sometime next week www.chriselrod.com will begin pointing to the new blog.

I have no intentions of taking this site down, as it is a fairly personal dairy of the last two years. However, I have transfered to the new blog a few of the posts from this site that have received the most comments.

Thanks to all of the folks that read this blog on a regular basis. I'll see you over at the Typepad site.

Really Weird News . . .

I took a look a today's online news headlines (CNN, Fox, MSNBC and USA Today) today and it was like looking at The Weekly World News at the grocery store checkout line. An 'N Sync member comes out of the closet, they found a severed hand in a stripper's home, a man is suing an ex-NBA player for hitting him with a golf ball and the rock band Steely Dan is accusing actor Owen Wilson of stealing from them. Man, I miss the days so long ago when the headlines were about the Middle East, oil prices and politics. :-)

Songs From The Edge - Volume 1 . . .

Since I posted about the Last Year Portrait show here in Lakeland last week, I've received numerous emails inquiring about "the latest, greatest, cutting-edge bands" in music right now. As I wrote in the previous post, I have several folks within Compass Point that keep me up-to-date with the hottest new rock groups. One of the reasons is because we are launching a concert ministry in September. The other reason is because some of the very groups that are making a splash in the "indie-world" of music attend Compass Point. We are definitely blessed by God with talented, artistic people!

Anyway, it seems that quite a few church planters are interested in what the "25-and-below" crowd is listening to these days. In order to make it easier I put together an Imix called "Elrod's Songs From The Edge - Volume 1" over at iTunes. Just follow this link to sample, purchase and download the songs. I warn you, most of these bands you've never heard of . . . but your teens and college students have!!!

CBS "Rockstar: Supervova" Part 2 . . .

Okay, if you can't do a better version of Bowie's "Heroes" than The Wallflowers cover (from the "Godzilla" soundtrack) then don't take the stage. That dude has got to get kicked off the show for degrading one of the greatest songs in the history of rock n' roll!!!
